The ChatGPT update everyone missed š
Plus, my take on everything that's happened since we last spoke.

Hi Non-Techies,
Before you ask: No, I didnāt bump into Colin Farrell in Bruges. Hugely disappointing.
Still, itās a testament to how much I enjoy this newsletter that, despite coming home from a lovely trip, Iām still excited to be back in your inbox.
What happened whilst I was gone?
In classic AI style, quite a lot. But just as some people like to keep an eye on the football scores or who went out in Bake Off, I canāt resist staying in the loop on the latest in AI. Even when Iāve got a mouthful of Belgian chocolate.

Me about to make chocolate. The kitchen roll was needed.
Stick around for a game-changing new ChatGPT feature that seems to have been overlooked and a video of me hanging out with my younger self.

ChatGPTās image generation
It was only four weeks ago that I was mocking ChatGPTās āhow to boil an eggā infographic.
Well, it sure showed me:

Once it's cracked numbering (egg-related pun intended), we're all doomed.
The speed of improvement in AI seems to be faster than AI thinks it takes to boil an egg.
Whether you know it or not, youāve probably already come across ChatGPTās fancy new image-generation abilities. From packaged action figures to Studio Ghibli* versions of our pics, the already-popular ChatGPT has truly entered the mainstream. I even used it to make different versions of my Mum for Motherās Day.
These viral trends might already be wearing a bit thin (with some exceptions, like Sophie Blackmoreās take on the action figure trend), but they do show how impressive this latest update really is.
Where once even the most experienced prompters wouldāve struggled to create images like these, now anyone can do it easily and consistently. Blimey.
*Quick question: Do you pronounce it Ghibli or āJibliā? This is the new GIF vs āJIFā.

The huge ChatGPT update nobody noticed
Itās called Internal Knowledge, and it has me even more intrigued than the ability to turn myself into a Simpsons character (which is saying something, btw).
It connects ChatGPT to your Google Drive, giving your chats way more context thatās specific to you.
Step 1: Connect it (couple of clicks)
Step 2: Switch the Internal Knowledge button on
Step 3: Prompt as normal
It'll look at what you're asking for in your prompt and decide if it needs to pull a file from your Drive to answer that question.
For example, I asked it to tell me about my current pipeline value, average sale price and any proposals I've sent that need chasing.
It searched my Google Drive, found my lead spreadsheet and gave me a detailed response using that real information. Double blimey.
Itās only available on ChatGPT Team at the moment, and thatās probably for the best. After all, giving a chatbot full access to your Google Drive doesnāt come without potential privacy and security concerns.
Personally, Iād want the Enterprise-level data encryption and security that ChatGPT Team offers before I hand over the keys to my documents.

ChatGPTās improved memory
Just when I thought Iād seen the last of ChatGPTās upgrades for the time being, Sam Altman casually drops another one on an otherwise normal Thursday afternoon.
ChatGPT can now remember your past chats. Is a triple blimey too much?
So, let's say I'm writing a job description for a new Marketing Manager at AI for Non-Techies.
I won't need to tell ChatGPT what my business does, how long we've been around, or what our business challenges are. It's already got hundreds of chats talking about that stuff in loads of detail.
If I had 10 minutes to natter to Sam Altman about this update (hey, I can dream), hereās what Iād ask him:
Do more recent chats have higher relevance than older chats?
Do conversation topics I speak more about have more weight?
Does it really remember everything, including big uploads?
What if I've (inevitably) contradicted myself? What about silly/novel chats? Are these disregarded?
Sam, if youāre reading this, my DMs are open.

The other stuff
š Midjourney released Version 7. The reaction hasnāt been great, with many regular users calling it a downgrade on the more popular Version 6. Oops!
š« Runway released Version 4. The biggest feature of Runwayās image-to-video update is consistency. Previously, characters, locations and objects would often look slightly different in each video or even change mid-video. Now you can get consistency across your videos.
šØ Pika released loads more fun special effects. These include Pikaframes and āSelfie with Your Younger Selfā. Hereās me hanging out with my younger self. I wonāt lie; I canāt stop watching it.

Iām off to prepare for my dogās 7th birthday party. Sausage and mash themed. Event of the year.
