How to use AI to entertain the kids.

Hi Non-Techies,
ChatGPT 5 has just been launched, and it’s all the AI world is talking about at the moment. I’m going to be a proper hipster* and talk about it next week instead, but I shared my initial thoughts on LinkedIn if you’re particularly eager to hear them.
It’s the summer holidays and, apparently, kiddies need entertainment now more than ever. Today’s newsletter is going to explore two ways that AI can help.
Spoiler: I’ll be sharing a free Google Doc of prompts at the end as well.
Before I get going, here’s a final reminder that my 3-day Become an AI Trainer bootcamp starts next week.
Join me digitally on 19-21 August 2025, 16:00-17:30 BST / 11:00 - 12:30 ET for three days of learning. Best of all, it’ll only cost you (or your company) £72/$97.
Just click the button below to register:
*You can also listen to this newsletter on vinyl, if you’d prefer.

Create a custom storybook in seconds 📚
Google’s Gemini launched a new tool last week called Storybook. It lets you create a personalised, illustrated story using a simple prompt. Naturally, I put it to the test.

If this isn’t the next Harry Potter, I don’t know what is.
Here’s my favourite page from the book, where our hero, Heather, overhears a man called Arthur moaning about AI in the park (an actual park in Birmingham, btw). Something that happens to me all the time, obviously.

If only I were so gentle and soft in real life.
Okay, so this is pretty cool. Here’s what I liked about it:
It was super quick. Took less than a minute to generate.
It’s free.
Whilst it wasn’t quite a Stephen King novel, the quality of the story was really good, as were the illustrations.
There’s plenty you can do to customise this, from changing the reading level to using a photo to accompany the prompt. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon!

Choose your own adventure đź§
Not to brag too much, but this is one of mine.
I used to love those choose-your-own-adventure books when I was a kid.

You know the ones:
“You’ve approached a bootcamp plug in the AIFNT newsletter: Do you turn back and run, or click and find out more?” - An extract from the most boring choose-your-own-adventure ever.
Whisper it, but apparently AI isn’t just for speeding up workflows, so I spent some time putting together some prompts so that you, the kids, the grannies, the uncles or anyone else in your orbit can build your own adventure book. It’s yours for free ⬇️
There’s a 16+ version in there, too.

Oh, and if you want to use AI for learning, I talked about ChatGPT’s new study mode in last week’s newsletter.
Right. You’ve reached the end of the email. Do you go back to the start and read it again, continue with the rest of your day, or spend a second responding to the poll below?
Blimey, it’s exciting, isn’t it?
See you next week,
Heather and the AIFNT team.
